My yoga journey

There are moments in my life where I take the opportunity to reflect. To look back at a journey that has brought me to where I am today.

The first time I stepped onto a yoga mat, it was for the purpose of healing my body and finding balance in my day to day life.

I first became acquainted with yoga back in Spring 2020, at the time when the world pressed pause on normal life and the word “pandemic” became dominant in our everyday vocabulary.

The stresses of isolation, the loss of freedom, uncertainty about the future, all of that, led me into searching for ways to ease my worries, quieten my restless mind.

That is when, a friend of mine, suggested I tried yoga and offered me some books to read about the discipline.

At first, I was sceptical. I did not believe that it could bring me relief. However, as I started reading about the science of yoga, its history, philosophy and diving, the practices – it was then that I fell in love with the discipline.

My experience on my yoga mat began to allow me to take listen to myself, to breathe, to cry, to heal, to disconnect an reconnect. For me it was not about learning a physical alignment, it was simply about understanding how to be still and to allow the worldly noise to stop.

My personal yoga practice was so uplifting and empowering, that in Summer 2022, I decided to dive deeper into learning about yoga, and embarked on a 200h Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher training program, that was led by two senior Yoga teachers – Pip Taverner and Kathy Ran.

My personal practice includes Ashtanga, Hatha and Yin Yoga styles. Through dedication, self-discipline and with regular practice, I have a greater ability to maintain peace and emotional balance in my internal world; my energy level is high; I have a more positive outlook on life and my physical body is healthy and strong.
